My journey began with the love of the written word. I spent many of my formative years writing and soon discovered what a powerful tool it is. As an adult, educating and inspiring others to write became my passion. In my 20 + years as an educator, I developed and delivered interactive, learner-centered courses and have come away with the skills and knowledge to design engaging learning experiences for adult learners.

The deliberate process of the ADDIE model is much like drafting a piece of writing. Learner-centered design examines the needs of the learner with the expectations of the stakeholders and the input of SMEs, which is very much like the journey to publication.

I have a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction, which afforded me the opportunity to train my peers in a district-wide behavior modification program. I then formalized my instructional design journey in Applied Instructional Design Academy (AIDA), an ATD-certified comprehensive training. In this program I earned certifications (you can see these at the bottom of this page) that helped me progress in my journey as an Instructional Designer.

I continually update my knowledge and experience with new tools and learning technologies. I believe that training must be engaging, relevant, and meet the desired objectives, while also following adult learning principles. Learners must trust that the time they are dedicating to training and learning is time well spent. I pride myself in designing courses with these ideas in mind. I am continually adding new trainings to my portfolio as I develop them.

When I’m not designing and developing, I enjoy traveling, thrifting, and spending time with my daughters and six grandchildren.
